Accelerated Reader:
Accelerated Reader is a computer-based program used to monitor reading practice and progress. It helps teachers guide kids to books that are on kids' individual reading levels. Kids take short quizzes after reading a book to check if they've understood it.
"Let's Excel with AR" is the Oakley Media center's reading competition. Ask Ms. Lane how you can your class can win BIG prizes.
Story time:
Story time encourages children to love language and literature in all forms. Children listen to, observe and imitate the books and activities we share, building reading readiness as they grow.
Digital Citizenship:
Digital Citizenship is a concept which helps teachers, technology leaders and parents to understand what students/children/technology users should know to use technology appropriately.
Novel Engineering:
Novel Engineering is an innovative approach that integrates engineering and literacy. As students read the book they identify and engineer problems faced by the main characters. Projects are designed around books with interesting plots, rich characters and detailed descriptions of the setting.
Maker space:
Makerspaces provide hands-on, creative ways to encourage students to design, experiment, build and invent as they deeply engage in science, engineering and tinkering.
Picture Perfect Science:
Picture perfect Science combine the appeal of picture books to teach Science standards instruction.
Poster Maker/Lamination:
Poster maker/ lamination request can be placed in the box in the media center. Posters and banners must be designed prior to making request. Be sure to indicate if you would like the poster half or full size, the quantity and if it requires lamination. Please allow up to 48 hours to complete.
